Mothers, who do not want to raise their illegitimate child (or even legitimate child in any case), Indiana has provided a climate controlled baby box. They can just come and drop their child in the baby box, and that too anonymously-no questions asked. The first 100 boxes are sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and they cost $1,500-$2,000 each. The boxes come equipped with an inbuilt security system which alerts the emergency recruits when a baby is shelved. The emergency recruits can reach the baby within minutes. The first baby box was installed in the month of April 2016.

The District of Columbia and the 50 states of America have safe haven laws or baby Moses laws that allow mothers to surrender their newborns to statutorily designated personnel. The parents of the child are not prosecuted for the issue. However, some people do not want to face anyone at all while dropping off their children to a hospital, fire station or hospital. That is why; this box has been provided so that the children do not die an awful death and are taken care of well.

Abandoning a baby is not criminal in Indiana, it is legal. However, there is some security concerns associated with this issue. When the new born baby is completely alone in the box for a few minutes, it may be harmed by anyone. But, the fire department says that they are taking care of these security issues as well and they will try their best that the babies stay safe till they reach them.
