Budweiser Set to Rename Itself America

By  |

In order to lure the American electorate towards itself during the ongoing Election season, Budweiser has announced that it will rename itself America.

The name change will be effective from 23rd of May and it will remain in place till the 8 November Presidential Election.

As all of us know that holding a beer in one hand with a barbecue in the other is part and parcel of American tradition, Budweiser has taken this concept to a whole new level. The Company has decided that in order to “inspire drinkers”, the name change will play its part.

In addition to the name change, the Brewer has announced that its cans and bottles will be ornamented with US Icons.

Thus, if you’re lucky, you might get your hands on a beat which will be adorned with the Statue of Liberty. Also, popular phrases from the Pledge of Alliance and lyrics from the Star Spangled Banner will be emblazoned on the cans.

Showing a trend for the future, the aforementioned announcement by Budweiser made “America” the top trend on twitter in the U.S. Also, according to the analytics of the Social media website, majority of the U.S. based Twitter users were happy with this decision of the brewer.

Thus, while this is a cheeky attempt by Budweiser to get ahead of its competitors, the fact that this idea is the brain child of a Belgian International might not go down to well with the American Citizens.

It is important to note that Budweiser is owned by Anheuser-Busch who is currently based in Belgium.

However, looking at other ramifications of this decision, this decision might also support the American Athletes in the upcoming summer. As, in addition to the Rio Olympics, the likes of Paralympic games will also take place this summer.
