Bayern Munich beat Manchester United to Sign Benfica Ace

By  |

For a team that is known for making big money signings, Manchester United were beaten by Bayern Munich on Tuesday for the signing of 28-Million-Pound Benfica Ace Renato Sanches. There were numerous reports in the last few months of Manchester United tracking the 18-year-old.

However, as suggested by the Bayern Munich Official Twitter Account, the Bavarian club has secured the services of Sanches for the foreseeable future.

In addition to paying 28-Million up front, it is rumored that Bayern Munich might have to pay an additional 35-Million in several clauses to Benfica over the coming years.

The German side will pay an additional amount in case Sanches wins the Ballon D’Or or is named in the FIFA World XI during his tenure at FC Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was especially jubilant after completing the transfer of the Portuguese wonderkind.

‘Renato Sanches has been observed by Bayern Munich for a long period.

‘We are delighted to have signed him despite renowned international competition. Renato is a dynamic, two combative and technically gifted midfielder who will strengthen our team further.’
In addition to feeling distressed over losing their prime summer target to Bayern Munich, the Manchester United fans are also fearing the worst in the upcoming summer.

Both Sanches and Jose Mourinho are represented by Jorge Mendez and the move of the former to Bayern Munich might signal the end of Jose Mourinho saga to Manchester United.

Manchester United were in advanced talks with the representatives of the player after meeting with the Benfica officials at the start of this year.

They also sent scouts to watch the Portuguese when he was on International duty whereas Chief Executive Ed Woodward also flew to Portugal to held talks with the representatives of the player.

Thus, with Sanches now Munich-bound, the Red devils will have to turn their attention elsewhere if they want to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
